Jayson Tatum has been having an up-and-down season for the Boston Celtics. Some days, he'll drop a clean 30 points on efficient shooting. Other days, he'll have a terrible shooting night that will draw the ire of fans and his new coach Ime Udoka. On Tuesday night, the amazing version of Tatum showed up.

Against the Los Angeles Lakers, Jayson Tatum put on a show. He scored fourteen straight points in the first quarter of the match. That set a franchise record that even the greatest Celtics players have never achieved during their tenure. (via ESPN Stats & Info)

Bouts of inconsistency have plagued Tatum's first year without Brad Stevens. When he's on, the Celtics are a dangerous force. He's a player capable of making plays on both sides of the ball, as well as facilitate for his team. The problem is that these good games get mixed up with some atrocious games, where he just can't seem to hit anything. After one particular off-night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Udoka had some remarks for Tatum:

“A little frustration on missed shots, letting it affect him on the other end. Just got to play through that.”

Can the Celtics turn it around this season? The first step is showing they could maintain some level of good consistency. They've shown they have the ability to turn it on: Jayson Tatum's 14-point first quarter against the Lakers is proof of that. They just need to find a way to piece it all together, and they'll be back on top again in no time.

A Celtics win here over the struggling Lakers will be an immense boost to this franchise. Celtics fans are hoping Tatum and co. can capitalize on this opportunity.
