Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum had no problem skipping a short chit-chat with NFL icon Tom Brady.

On their way back to the U.S. after copping the gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Tom Brady FaceTimed Draymond Green. As expected, the legendary NFL player drew a crowd via phone but Team USA and Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was not one of them.

Lifting the lid on the subject, Tatum simply came clean and said that with most of his teammates in front of him, he figured he would just “text” Brady afterwards to say “what's up.”

“Draymond was in the back, so I was like 10 rows ahead of him,” Tatum explained via “The Knuckleheads” podcast. “And I remember Book (Devin Booker) and Zach (LaVine) and all them say ‘what's up' to [Brady].”

“I thought about it, but I might have been on the phone or something,” he continued. “So I was like, ‘Aight, I'll text him later.'”

Some may not know but Tatum has forged quite a good relationship with Brady. In fact, the Celtics talisman further revealed that even to this day, he and Brady still “talk from time to time.”

An interesting takeaway from the epic moment?–it was an indication that Tatum could already be considered a star, having been able to be on texting level with Brady.

Back in the NBA, Tatum is expected to play more minutes and spearhead the Celtics as his co-star Jaylen Brown is still sidelined due to injury.
