Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum's trade stock “took a hit” this season, according to an Eastern Conference scout who spoke with Ben Standig of NBC Sports.

The Celtics are widely expected to try and trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis this summer. To acquire Davis, the Celtics would likely have to part ways with Tatum, Jaylen Brown and multiple draft picks.

“Tatum's stock took a hit this season,” an Eastern Conference scout said. Others made similar claims during the season as the playmaking forward appeared lost at times playing with Irving. Regardless, Tatum is a talented 21-year-old who went head-to-head against LeBron James in the 2018 Eastern Conference Final.

Tatum averaged 15.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists during the regular season. He shot 45.0 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line. With Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward back for the Celtics this season, Tatum's role on offense decreased and it affected how scouts and other teams judged him.

The Celtics lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs in five games. Tatum put up 15.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in the postseason. He's only 21, so Tatum still has a really bright future in the league. We'll have to see if that future is on the Celtics.
