After eight NBA seasons, Kemba Walker will be sporting a different jersey than his signature No. 15, this time donning No. 8 for his new team, the Boston Celtics after getting the blessing from former star Antoine Walker, who spent his first seven seasons with the franchise.

The All-NBA point man said there were no more numbers left for him to wear, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps — likely due to the number of retired jerseys due to the rich history of the franchise.

Walker's usual No. 15 is retired in name of Tommy Heinsohn, who was a former Rookie of the Year, an eight-time All-Star, eight-time NBA champion, and a two-time coach of the team — now a broadcaster for the organization.

It's likely the 6-foot-1 dynamo didn't have all that many options, considering popular numbers like No. 3, 21, 23, 32, 33, and 34 are among the 21 jersey numbers the franchise has retired during its robust history.

The change however, should be a welcome one for Walker, who is looking for a fresh beginning under a clear slate, now with the chance to be a constant threat in the postseason and chase the same glory that many members of the organization have showered in through the years.

Walker has turned into a bona fide All-Star after making the team during the last three seasons, solidifying himself as one of the best point guard talents in the league after earning an All-NBA Third Team mention this past season.

His averages of 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game should hold up in this new venture, no matter what number he's wearing on his new jersey.
