The Boston Celtics are currently going through an up and down campaign midway through the 2020-21 season. Apparently, it turned out that their ability to win games mainly hinges on the scoring production of point guard Kemba Walker.

According to Stat Muse, the Celtics have garnered a 5-2 record whenever the four-time All-Star generates 20 or more points. On the flip side, they only settled for a 2-8 win-loss tally when he fails to reach the 20-point mark.

Walker missed the early stages of the season after he received a stem-cell injection in his left knee. He only managed to return on the court by mid-January but it wasn't smooth-sailing for him since then.

The point guard's struggling efforts to begin his 2020-21 campaign showed that he needed more time to get his legs back after a long layoff. At the same time, the Celtics also needed to make a bevy of adjustments after welcoming Walker back to their lineup.

Through 17 games played this season, Walker is currently averaging 18.1 points on 38.5% shooting from the field to go with 4.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds for the Celtics. His significant absence to start the season along with his inconsistent level of play definitely played a part in his failure to notch an All-Star appearance for the first time since 2016.

After seeing how Boston have gone through a 6-9 record in the month of February, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown definitely needed more help around them in order to turn things around, especially from Kemba Walker. Despite being overshadowed by the two budding All-Stars, the statistic showed that he remains to be a valuable piece for the Celtics this season as they look to make a playoff push.
