Much has been made about the Boston Celtics' post-game shouting match following their Game 2 defeat to the Miami Heat on Thursday night. As it turns out, Celtics point guard Kemba Walker played a key role in diffusing the tense situation which reportedly centered around Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown.

According to a report by the Boston Globe, the conflict between the two players did not end in the locker room. Smart allegedly walked out again during the late-night meeting arranged by head coach Brad Stevens after he had another heated exchange with Brown.

For his part, Kemba Walker played peacemaker by prompting his two teammates to hash it out over the phone:

On Friday, the Celtics held a voluntary workout and Stevens met with the players again. But before then, Walker had arranged a call between Brown and Smart and the two settled their differences on the phone.

Walker has been a great leader for this Celtics side since arriving last summer. The team has welcomed him with open arms, and he has done his part in maintaining harmony within the squad both on and off the court.

It appears that Smart, Brown, and the rest of the C's have put this episode behind them by now. The best-case scenario here is if they are able to use this situation to light a fire in their collective belly. They're in a 2-0 hole against a formidable Heat side, and Boston will need to win Game 3 on Saturday for them to have a shot at getting back in this series.
