The Boston Celtics held an introductory press conference for Enes Kanter and Kemba Walker on Wednesday morning. During the event, Kanter revealed that Walker called him from Danny Ainge's phone earlier this offseason in an effort to recruit his services.

“He didn't call me from his phone,” Kanter said during Wednesday's introductory presser. “He called me from Danny's. I answered the phone and it was was a deep voice. I was like ‘Who is this?' And he was like, ‘That's Kemba, man. We want you to be here.'”

“That made me very excited. It made me feel special,” Kanter said of Walkers call. “You know, an All-Star, a superstar guy like him calling me and saying, ‘We want you to be here.' That made me feel really special.”

Kanter and the Celtics agreed to the terms of a two-year, $10 million contract on July 1. The second year of his contract has a player option, however. Still, the 27-year-old should be a fine addition to the team's rotation, as he can play at both the forward and center positions.

Kanter split the 2018-19 season with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 13.7 points and 9.8 rebounds in just under 24 minutes per outing.

The Celtics finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 49-33 overall record, which earned the team a No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Boston was eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round, 4-1.
