The Boston Celtics endured one of their more underperforming seasons in recent memory. With expectations rising due to their unexpected Eastern Conference Finals run in 2018, the team apparently felt like they could win the Finals as individuals rather than the collective that banded together for that run.

But the person that spurred the selfishness (Kyrie Irving) is gone to be the man without the burden of leadership. Nevertheless, the Celtics are poised to return to the unselfish style that Brad Stevens desires. Enter Kemba Walker, Irving's replacement who is destined to return the Celtics back to glory. While the Celtics are glad that Walker signed, he did give the New York Knicks strong consideration.

Celtics point guard and New York City native Kemba Walker said he considered the Knicks in free agency before signing with Boston this summer.

“It was (a consideration). It was. They were definitely one of the teams I was looking at in free agency. But I picked Boston. I just felt it was a better fit for me,” Walker said before the Knicks home opener against Boston on Saturday, via Ian Begley of SNY.tv.

New York had enough cap space to sign Walker and another max free agent, but Walker agreed to sign with the Celtics as soon as free agency began.

On Friday night, Walker gave the C's a display of what he can do for them this season. In a win over the Toronto Raptors, he scored 22-11 points in the fourth quarter. While Walker isn't Irving, the Celtics are grateful that he chose them and not the rival Knicks.
