Some of the best players on the planet were recently in Las Vegas to participate in a three-day minicamp by Team USA. No 5-on-5 games were played and most of the activities done were merely drills, so some of the interesting events could be found happening on the sidelines.

Take for example the pair of Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving and New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis hanging around like some old friends who didn’t see each other in years.

So yeah, was Irving recruiting Davis there? We can’t know for sure, but we’re quite certain that Boston would love to have a player like Anthony Davis added to its fold. Davis has three more guaranteed years left on his contract with the Pelicans, which comes with a player option for the 2020-21 season.

The Pelicans can also offer a supermax extension to Anthony Davis in the summer of next year to keep the athletic power forward. Of course, the Celtics can try to trade for Davis. After all, they have one of the best collection of assets most other teams would want to have, though, it would probably cost them any of the likes of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and some of their future draft picks to get a player of Davis’ caliber.

Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, won’t be a free agent until 2020. There have already been rumors floating around that he’s eyeing to sign with the New York Knicks in the near future. He can opt out of his contract next year and make himself an unrestricted free agent.
