The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors clashed yesterday in a game that could very well be a preview for the upcoming NBA Finals. According to Kyrie Irving, however, the outcome was a bit lucky.

In a back and forth affair that ended with a 115-111 Warriors victory, fans were treated to a quality game that featured a little bit of everything. However, after the game, Kyrie Irving wasn’t ready to praise the Warriors.

“They had poise but they also got pretty lucky, too.” the point guard told NBC Sports Boston after the game.

According to Irving, the comment was in reference to some foul calls and a couple of lucky bounces that went the Warriors way.

Of course, the comment did make its way back to the Warriors, and it was met with some skepticism from Stephen Curry. When told what Irving had said, Curry brushed off the comments, saying that Boston simply could have hit their shots.

While Golden State did commit turnovers on back-to-back possessions late in the game, the Celtics weren’t able to capitalize on them, and even with Draymond Green missing consecutive free throws, the Celtics were unable to corral a rebound to give themselves a better chance at winning.

No matter how the game ended, what’s clear is that if both of these teams should meet in the NBA Finals later this year, fans might have a long, hard-fought series on their hands.
