The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat on Monday at the TD Garden, and Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving had an extraordinary game, etching his name next to Hall of Famer and Boston legend Larry Bird.

In 34 minutes against the Heat, Irving finished with 26 points, 10 assists and eight steals, becoming the first Celtics player since Bird to record that type of stat line.

Boston won by a final score of 107-99 to improve to 28-18 on the year and 18-5 at home.

Anytime you can put your name next to Larry Legend, you are doing something right. Irving shot 11-for-19 from the field, 2-for-5 from beyond the arc and 2-for-3 from the free-throw line during the win.

The Celtics have won four games in a row and are starting to look like a title contender again, with Irving leading the way. “Uncle Drew” raised some eyebrows last week when he said the younger guys on the Celtics don't know what it takes to win a championship after Boston lost to the Orlando Magic. The five-time All-Star then said he should have kept those comments private and that he's learning what it takes to be a leader of a team which has championship aspirations.

If Kyrie Irving continues to play like this, the Celtics are going to be fine once the playoffs start.
