Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics clarified his statements on their need for a 15-year veteran, noting that he was just speaking in general terms.

As reported by Jay King of The Athletic, Irving said that he wasn't referring to a specific person, but another veteran like Al Horford who can guide them.

Kyrie Irving's comments came in after news about Carmelo Anthony's falling out with the Houston Rockets. Various reports stated that Anthony may have played his last game in a Rockets jersey and is on the verge of being waived. Anthony was the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and is on his 16th year as a pro.

The Rockets have continued to downplay such reports. But various news outlets continue to report that sources close to players believe that Anthony may be on his way out. If these reports turn out to be true, this begs a brand new question: are the Celtics interested in getting Anthony?

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, for his part, responded to Irving's wishes of having a 15-year veteran in their team. In an article by Nick Friar for Celtics Wire, Stevens said that he's more focused on working with what he has than worrying on what he doesn't have.
