Boston Celtics superstar point guard Kyrie Irving did not miss a beat in his return Tuesday night versus the Brooklyn Nets. Although his status was still up in the air leading into the game, Irving looked like his usual spectacular self after a 25-point performance on 8-of-20 shooting.

However, the Celtics' four-time All-Star rocked a clear mask this time as opposed to the black mask like he has done in years past. According to Jay King of MassLive, the reason was that the black mask deterred his vision.

“I was telling some of my teammates, some of the fans too, they were asking me whether I was going to wear the black mask,” said Irving. “The difference with the black mask is that they're not getting the ball because I couldn't see (peripherally).”

Kyrie Irving later jokingly added that he was showing his teammates ‘gratitude' since the black mask would have forced him to attack the basket, rather than pass to them. There may be some truth to this considering he also managed to dish out five assists in the 109-102 victory over the Nets.

The Celtics are now riding a 13-game win streak heading into their biggest matchup of the season against the Golden State Warriors. However, with Irving back at the helm, the Celtics could be poised to make a huge statement on Thursday night.
