Boston Celtics superstar point guard Kyrie Irving was asked by the media about disrespect on social media.

Per Nicole Yang of The Boston Globe, Irving said:

“We live in America, where people say shit all the time about one another — and it's mean, bad, kids see it, like everyone gets a piece of it and then it's the next story, the next thing that's coming out of someone's mouth. Like, there's world hunger going on. People are blatantly disrespectful now, like to people’s faces. It’s ridiculous to treat another human being like that. People do it behind screens, people do it on their phones every single day. It’s something to learn as a human being how to treat and respect others.”

Kyrie Irving has been well known for his antics as a conspiracy theorist. He came out in a guest appearance on a Forbes 30 Under 30 summit in 2017 that he was indeed a flat Earther. He later apologized and admitted that he was wrong to spread misinformation and conspiracy in the first place. But before that, Irving continued to state outside of his appearance that he truly believed that the Earth is, in fact, flat.

But it seems like Irving may now be using his public platform for good, pointing out the rampant hate that there is via social media. He also had a lengthy rant about the Stephen Curry moon landing fiasco, but it wasn't about the moon landing being fake, rather some of the over-the-top coverage of it all. Perhaps Irving has turned a leaf on his conspiracy theories and will focus more on honest and real things.

Irving is averaging 22.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game for the Boston Celtics.
