For the most part of the playoffs, Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving could be seen on the bench, lending his support and cheering for his teammates. That was not the case in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ home court, as the former Cavs guard was not seen on the sidelines.

According to Tom Withers of the Associated Press, Irving is currently not with the Celtics in Cleveland because of a rehab schedule.

In other words, Kyrie Irving will not also be there at the Quicken Loans Arena for Game 4 of the series. Irving’s absence certainly has left many wondering whether the point guard was just avoiding a hostile atmosphere in his former stomping grounds.

Irving was declared out for the rest of the season just prior to the playoffs following a knee procedure back in March. Before getting sidelined, Irving was averaging 24.4 points and 5.1 assists for the Celtics.

In lieu of Irving, backup guard Terry Rozier has stepped up his play to help Boston mitigate the impact of the All-Star guard’s absence. Thus far in the playoffs, Rozier is averaging 17.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Rozier and the Celtics have been tremendous in the postseason despite missing a pair of starters in Irving and Gordon Hayward, as they managed to eliminate the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers in the first and second round, respectively, before setting up a conference finals duel with the defending East champions in the form of the Cavaliers.
