The Los Angeles Clippers thumped the Boston Celtics by a score of 140-115 on Monday night, marking their fifth straight win as they continue in their quest to claim a surprising playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Doc Rivers has done an impressive job with the Clippers this season, and after the game, Celtics star Kyrie Irving had a lot of good things to say about the former Boston head coach:

“It's so easy to play for a guy that's been a player in this league,” said Irving, according to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “He's won a championship and he's done unbelievable things in this league for his players while giving them confidence to go out there and be who they are. Lou signed an extension for a reason, and that's Doc.”

The Clippers originally acquired Rivers as head coach in a trade with the Celtics back in the summer of 2013. Rivers won a title with the C's in 2008 and led them to two Finals appearances overall.

“He puts those guys in position, gives them the freedom and keeps them encouraged throughout the whole game, especially when they're at home,” Irving said. “My only thing is they stay on the refs the entire game, I've never seen a team complain that much, but he really holds them to a standard and lets them go out and play.”

Los Angeles currently owns a record of 39-29 and has actually been playing better since trading Tobias Harris at the deadline last month. That deal seemed like a signal that the Clippers were giving up on the season, but this recent stretch has proven otherwise.
