In their embarrassing loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics star guard Kyrie Irving claimed that his team's ‘energy just wasn't right.'

Per Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Irving blamed their 115-96 loss to the Spurs on his team's lack of energy.

“Our energy wasn’t right. Simple as that. We’ve just got to move forward from this point and get ready for the last eight games.”

The loss marks the Celtics' fourth straight defeat. In the last 10 games, they've split it 5-5. While they still hold the fifth spot in the East and will qualify for the postseason, the way the Celtics are performing is a major cause of concern.

Just a season ago, when Irving was traded to the Celtics, the team was immediately deemed as a contender. Despite being shorthanded in the playoffs, they made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals thanks to then-rookie Jayson Tatum's play.

But now, though they're complete and healthy, things are looking bleak for the Brad Stevens-led basketball club. Rumors have popped out regarding the team's lack of chemistry off the basketball court. Some have questioned Irving's leadership abilities as well.

Rightfully, Irving and company parried off such rumors. The 26-year-old himself said before that he wants the playoffs to begin as soon as possible so they can finally prove everyone wrong.

If we are to trust his words, perhaps the Celtics have something up their sleeve. But if we are to look at how they've performed as of late, they clearly have some work to do. And they need to work on it now given that the playoffs are just around the corner.
