The Boston Celtics have been nothing short of spectacular to start the 2017-18 NBA season. Not only has newly-acquired superstar Kyrie Irving fit in seamlessly, but the surrounding pieces have played exceptionally well throughout their 15-game win streak.

It also seems Irving has carried over the clutch gene that made him so deadly in the fourth quarter for the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, the four-time All-Star credited head coach Brad Stevens for his recent string of clutch performances, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

“(Stevens) understands the talent that I have at that point, especially in the fourth quarter,” Irving said. “But I also understand his brilliant mind. So when we're preparing and going through walk-through or simulating situations, it's kind of easy to just go off one another. I'm able to see the reads and what's going to happen, and then he makes the play-calls and what he sees out there. And we're just continuously building that trust with one another. So it's pretty easy.”

Kyrie Irving has had nothing but high praise for Brad Stevens and his ‘intellectual‘ basketball mind. Although they make it look much easier said than done, it is a testament to how well these two communicate and feed off each other.

With star forward Gordon Hayward out for the year, the pair has had to be on top of their game while the Celtics' young core continues to develop. It has paid huge dividends so far with Irving leading the league in clutch scoring, averaging 5.5 points on 57.6 percent shooting from the field.
