More than a year after his gruesome leg injury, Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward is now playing with ‘more confidence' according to teammate Kyrie Irving.

Per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, Irving believes that Gordon is getting more comfortable on the court. He's using his 6-foot-9 frame more and is not hesitant in driving to the lane with aggression.

“I think he’s just trying things now and doing it with more confidence, and getting to the lane and getting fouled. He's really understanding his size again, where he’s 6-9, able to post guys up, able to come off screen-and-rolls and make great decisions.”

Irving added that they need Hayward to score — and he's been telling him that. For the season, the 29-year-old Hayward is averaging 11.1 points per game 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists across 25.6 minutes. Before his injury, during his last season with the Utah Jazz, Hayward averaged a career-best 21.9 points per game in 36.2 minutes of play.

Kyrie Irving knows that Gordon Hayward possesses the quality of a potent scorer.

Hayward's presence will be needed more than ever as the Celtics embark on another playoff campaign. Unlike last year, they're healthy and complete this time around. Their regular season wasn't what they expected or aimed for, but the good thing is they still have an opportunity in the playoffs to prove everyone wrong.
