Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving recently came out with a statement reiterating his commitment to his team. According to the 26-year-old, he remains steadfast in his belief in what the Celtics are trying to achieve and how much they can offer in the future.

Well, in terms of Irving's impending free-agency this summer, this is probably the best type of commitment statement we can expect from the All-Star point guard. This is by no means an absolute affirmation of his desire to re-sign with the Celtics in the offseason, but at least he has made it clear that the same remains to be a very big possibility.

Then again, he did say last summer that he has every intention of signing that extension with Boston, so there is that. However, so much has happened between now and then, and that particular statement now feels like a lifetime ago.

Irving made headlines recently after burying the hatchet with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James. All of a sudden, a reunion with his buddy in Los Angeles has now reportedly become a viable option for Irving. The New York Knicks, who recently freed up a ton of cap space also remain to be one of Kyrie's potential landing spots should he decide against re-signing with the C's.

Boston are reportedly going all in on Anthony Davis in the summer (if he is still available), so it is likely that Irving will wait to see how that pans out before making his final decision this summer.
