Jamal Murray was having the game of his life against the Boston Celtics, as his Denver Nuggets were on their way to 9-1 start to their 2018-19 campaign. With the game all but over, Murray heaved up a last-second long ball in an attempt to have his first 50-point game of his career. The shot clanked off the rim, and he finished with just 48 points. But still, that last-second attempt did not sit well with the Boston Celtics.

Celtics forward Marcus Morris did not appreciate what Murray did, and called his last shot “unprofessional.”

In the NBA, there is an unwritten rule where if the winning team has possession with under 24 ticks left, and the contest was all but over, they would just run out the clock to call it a game. Murray obviously broke that rule as the Nuggets already had the win in the bag. But it looks like he did not want to pass up the opportunity to go over the 50-point plateau, a feat that most scorers like Murray would like to reach.

Unfortunately for him, the shot did not go in, and so he had to settle for 48. Though, had the shot went in, these statements from Morris, who is a notorious trash-talker himself, would have been much harsher. His teammate Kyrie Irving was also visibly frustrated with Murray's attempt after the game, as he flung the ball 50-feet into the crowd in disgust.

However, this shouldn't take anything away from The Blue Arrow's career ball game. It's an understatement to say that he was feeling it last night, as he scorched the Celtics defense, scoring 19 of his 48 points in the final quarter.

Nonetheless, the Celtics are going to remember this one, and will have March 18, 2019 circled on their calendars when Murray and the Nuggets visit the TD Garden.
