Apparently, Marcus Smart is a big Star Wars buff. The Boston Celtics guard showcased his fandom on Twitter recently by quoting the great Jedi Yoda to stake his claim for this season's Defensive Player of the Year award.

Smart retweeted a post by The Athletic running down their picks for this season's DPOY. The Celtics talisman was listed as one of the favorites, and in order to further his cause, Smart decided to go full Yoda:

‘“To be Jedi is to face the truth, and choose wisely with truth!' – Yoda,” Smart wrote in his tweet.

As the post indicates, there currently is no clear-cut favorite to bag the esteemed individual award. For his part, Smart believes that he should be the top pick. He's even invoked the power of the Jedi to indicate how much he believes he deserves this title.

It is also worth noting, however, that along with Marcus Smart, Celtics big man Robert Williams III was also shortlisted as this year's DPOY. The fact that two of Boston's starters are being discussed in the conversation about the best defender in the league simply speaks volumes of how much of a force this squad is on the defensive end. This has gotten them quite far this season, and it's going to be integral in their success moving forward.
