One of the reasons Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart is a top defender is because he can guard positions one through four, sometimes even one through five.

Smart has already guarded some of the biggest big men in the league this season and came out on top. The heart and soul of the Celtics says he's like Son Goku from Dragon Ball Z in the sense that he has no limit in what he can do on defense.

“I consider myself when I get into those situations like a super saiyan, like Goku. I can reach another level,” Smart said, via John Karalis of Mass Live. “There’s no limits to where I can go, so I gotta continue to keep pushing myself and helping this team in each and every way that I can.

“It’s just funny because I know guys see me, 6’3”, and I’m not jumping and dunking on everybody so they think I’m not as athletic, which I’m pretty athletic. I love when guys think they’ve got an advantage over me, especially in that situation where you have a seven-footer thinking he’s just going to pretty much put me in the rim. That’s the type of moments I live for.”

The Celtics are 9-1 on the season. Smart is averaging 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 41.2 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from beyond the arc and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Big guys may think they have an advantage when they are being guarded by Smart in the post. The Boston guard, though, relishes those opportunities and usually proves them wrong.
