Celtics veteran Marcus Smart is bummed out for missing Boston's last six games. Still, the 26-year-old defensive dynamo says he's thankful the calf injury he sustained last month isn't more serious, per The Athletic's Jay King.

Smart last played for the Celtics against the Los Angeles Lakers back in January. MRI results showed he has a Grade I tear of his left medial gastrocnemius and is expected to be out of commission for two to three weeks. The former Oklahoma State standout has suffered his fair share of injuries over the years, including some Achilles issues early in his career.

There were initial concerns that Smart might have injured his Achilles once more against the defending champions when he fell awkwardly and immediately clutched the back of his leg. Smart had to be carried back to the locker room. Luckily for Celtics fans, Smart's latest injury won't keep him on the sidelines for too long.

Being the ultimate competitor that he is, the two-time All-Defensive First Team Member obviously wants to get back on the playing court as soon as possible. After all, he is a vital cog in coach Brad Stevens' well-oiled system and is considered the heart and soul of the team.

Before his latest setback, Smart was notching 13.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals, while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from downtown in 17 games. The C's have had mixed results in Marcus Smart's absence going 3-3 during the tough stretch. They currently hold the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference Standings with a 13-11 slate.
