The Boston Celtics suffered another loss on Friday night against the Sacramento Kings and they are searching for answers to their struggles. Amid Boston's woes in the regular season, Marcus Smart revealed that off-court issues could be leading to problems for the Celtics.

“Yeah those things affect the team, but for us, we got to refocus our energy,” he said, via John Karalis of the Boston Sports Journal. “A lot of things have happened in our lives, personally, individually, where it's hard to come in here and give that energy to somebody else when in your own individual personal life, energy has been drained or you don't really have it. We got to find a way to pick each other when that energy is down from that standpoint.”

With a disappointing loss to the Kings on Friday, the Celtics have fallen to 20-21 on the season, putting them on the brink of missing the playoffs. At the least, Boston has 31 more games to figure things out as the regular season progresses.

But in a season that is taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, players on the Celtics have dealt with personal hardships. And with players not having an opportunity to spend much time together off of the court, Boston can't use team-bonding activities to get on the same page.

The Celtics have lost four out of their past five games, including back-to-back losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Kings. While Smart's return has been valuable for Boston recently, the veteran guard admits that the Celtics need to turn their focus on uplifting one another to create more energy on the floor.
