Marcus Smart has a tendency to become chippy with other players, and a recent Boston Celtics practice proved that his jawing doesn't discriminate.

Jay King of The Athletic revealed that Smart and Celtics teammate Grant Williams got into an argument during practice. According to center Robert Williams, the reason was because:

“Grant was flopping and shit.”

Williams said they’re all brothers and stuff like that happens.

Robert Williams then clarified that it was only a verbal exchange, and that that intensity is common in Celtics practice sessions.

First off, it's a bit ironic that Smart, one of the NBA's most infamous floppers, is complaining about someone else flopping. There's something incredibly funny about the pot calling the kettle black in this scenario.

Secondly, as Robert Williams said, this isn't a big deal. Arguments like this are common in NBA teams, as players are naturally competitive against each other. Perhaps there was just a misunderstanding in that Celtics practice, and Smart wasn't too happy about Williams taking it too seriously and potentially injuring himself. We won't really know, but Celtics fans shouldn't be concerned too much.

The Celtics, after a dismal 2020 – 2021 season, are looking to bounce back this season behind the J & J duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They brought back veteran big man Al Horford, as well as hiring a new coach in Ime Udoka. Celtics fans are counting on this as the year that the Cs reignite the fire that brought them to the Conference Finals a few years ago. If this practice is anything to go by, it seems like they're already fired up coming into the season.
