Marcus Smart suffered a lower leg injury late in Saturday's showdown between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, causing concern from the team. But after fears of a major injury, Celtics fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Smart sustained a calf strain and will miss some time.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports Smart is expected to miss a week or two. The Celtics are about to embark on a five-game road trip.

Late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game, Smart went down with a non-contact leg injury following a layup by Montrezl Harrell. Smart would need to be helped off of the court as he made his way to the locker room to get attention from the medical staff.

Shortly after making it to the locker room, Smart was ruled out for the rest of the game. The Celtics would proceed to lose in a hard-fought battle with the Lakers, 96-95, with Kemba Walker failing to convert a mid-range shot that would have won the game.

In his first 17 games of the season, Smart was recording career-highs in points (13.1) and assists (6.1) per game. The former first-round pick out of Oklahoma State served as the starting point guard to begin the season until Walker was able to make his return to the court.

Boston would have loved to avoid any injury for Smart that causes him to miss time on the court. But the silver lining in Smart's injury is that it wasn't something that would keep him out for the rest of the season.
