Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart will be held out of Wednesday night's home game against the Miami Heat due to an illness, according to a report from ESPN's Tim Bontemps.

Smart was already listed on Boston's injury report due to an oblique injury, but no updates have been provided with regards to that ailment. He's dealt with several smaller injuries this season, including those to his ankle, hip and finger. A day off could be just what the doctor ordered.

With Smart ruled out for Wednesday night's game, Semi Ojeleye, Brad Wanamaker and Carsen Edwards will likely see an uptick in their usage rates.

As Bontemps noted in his report, Gordon Hayward and Romeo Langford will also be held out of Wednesday's matchup. Hayward is still recovering from a broken hand, while Langford is dealing with a right ankle sprain.

Smart is an important piece of Boston's rotation, especially on the defensive end of the floor. The former No. 6 overall pick has made 19 appearances with the Celtics this season (14 starts), racking up averages of 11.9 points on 37.7 percent shooting from the field (32.8 percent from beyond the arc), 4.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 31.9 minutes per outing.

Wednesday night's game between the Celtics and Heat is scheduled to tip inside TD Garden at 7:30 p.m. ET.
