With the NBA All-Star break officially over, the regular season resumes on Wednesday. For the Boston Celtics, they play their first game after the break against the Brooklyn Nets with some significant news.
Marcus Smart plans to return to the lineup after an 18-game absence due to a calf injury, giving the Celtics the boost they need to remain in playoff contention. Considering how bleak the season looked for Boston about two weeks ago, getting Smart back in the rotation is crucial for this organization. He brings a ton of energy as a lockdown defender and has been considered a glue guy for this Boston team.
Smart seems excited about his return, as his calf now seems fully healed. However, Smart had some additional news that was deemed “significantly more important,” per The Athletic's Jared Weiss. The news may come to you as a shock, however, it appears Smart made a brilliant purchase recently:

His new companion is sure to enlighten Smart off the court, raising his morale and allowing him to play more effectively. This is the exact type of thing the Celtics need right now as they hope Smart's presence can kick it up a gear.
Look for the Celtics to close to the gap between themselves and the first-place Philadelphia 76ers, as the return of Marcus Smart elevates the Celtics entirely. Boston plays on the road in three of its next four games.
