It took overtime, but the Boston Celtics managed to pull out a 140-129 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. Marcus Smart however was the victim of a filthy cross-over and stepback three-pointer by LaMelo Ball in the third quarter, which quickly made the rounds on social media:

The Celtics point guard didn't sound too worried about it though and made sure to remind everyone who came out on top in the contest. Via NBC Sports Boston:

“It happens. I'm a defender. Just like a shot blocker, you're gonna get dunked on a few times,” Smart said. “All he did was make a good move, stopped, and I just stopped.

“… As we know, a player like him, I'm gonna make up for it, and I did it twice. … He's going to get all of the Overtime, House of Highlights, SportsCenter (highlights) and all that, but the Celtics got the win and that's all that matters.”

Smart made some huge plays for the Celtics down the stretch, most notably intercepting a Gordon Hayward pass that ultimately pushed the game to OT. He also hit a clutch three late in the fourth quarter. As for Ball, he finished with 25 points but Smart and the Celtics won't exactly be bothered by it because, in the end, a victory was secured.

Needless to say, Marcus Smart got the last laugh on the reigning Rookie of the Year.
