The Boston Celtics are 11-2 this season when star point guard Kyrie Irving doesn't play.

Celtics guard Marcus Smart says that record, though, “means nothing.”

“You know, Kyrie is one of the greatest players to play this game, and I think if you ask anybody, they want Kyrie – especially when there’s games on the line, when there’s plays that need to be made, the plays that he makes,” Marcus Smart said, via Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald

“So we’re 11-2 without him, but it means nothing.”

Kyrie Irving is one of the best players in the game. No player on the Celtics is going to admit the team is better without Uncle Drew in the lineup.

Eight of the 11 Celtics wins without Irving have come over teams that are below .500. It's not like Boston is beating elite teams in the league without Kyrie.

In the playoffs, the game slows down and whichever teams executes their half court offense usually comes out on top. Irving is one of the most gifted scorers in the game and a proven closer.

In 62 games this season for the Celtics, Irving is averaging 23.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest. The six-time All-Star is shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from beyond the arc.
