Marcus Smart was once again a huge part of the Boston Celtics' Wednesday night victory against the Brooklyn Nets. So much so, that the home crowd at the TD Garden adored the 25-year-old some MVP chants during Boston's 121-110 win against a Kyrie Irving-less Nets side.

After the game, Smart shared his thoughts on what those appreciative chants meant for him, saying that this was the first time in a long time that he was given this much adoration.

Smart logged 10 points (on 3-of-8 shooting), two 3-pointers, four rebounds, and five assists in 36 minutes of action against the Nets. These are by no means MVP numbers whatsoever, but much like he has functioned throughout his career, the 6-foot-3 combo guard's contributions to the team go far beyond the box score, and as made obvious by their recent show of appreciation, this is something the Celtics faithful have definitely taken notice of.

Boston are off to a great start to the new season, and are now the owners of the second-best record in the Eastern Conference at 13-4. Smart has definitely played a pivotal role for the team, with the former Oklahoma State standout averaging career-high marks in scoring (12.4), 3-pointers (2.4), assists (5.1), and blocks (0.5), while also contributing 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Smart and company will have a night off on Thursday before taking on the Nets again on Friday night. The game will take place in Brooklyn's home floor, and surely, the Nets will be out for some revenge.
