For a lot of players in the league and fans around the world, the trade centered around Kyrie Irving and Isaiah Thomas was surprising, to say the least. Many took to their social media accounts to give their thoughts about it and for some, it was a chance to send a message to their former and new teammates.

One of them is Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, who posted a tweet to welcome Irving to the team and also bid farewell to Thomas and Jae Crowder, who he has played with the past three years.

Contrary to what Chris Broussard reported, the Celtics have had a strong bond, and even treated each other as brothers. Even their former players like Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger have attested that Thomas got along well with them, just like the rest of their lineup.

On opening night, it will be very interesting to see how the players involved in the trade will perform against their former teams, as the Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers will meet right away on October 17th. Smart may be good friends with them off the court, but with the brewing rivalry between both squads, it can be expected that it will be a fiery matchup, as they both want to start their seasons on a high note.
