Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown knows a thing or two about Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving. Brown coached Irving one season in Cleveland, and also went up against Irving in The Finals in each of the last two seasons. Brown, who is known for his fortitude on defense, contends that Irving is one of, if not the hardest player to guard in the league.

Irving didn’t exactly have the greatest offensive night against Brown’s Warriors as he was limited to just 16 points on 4-of-16 shooting. However, he did turn it on when it counted as 11 of his 16 points came in the fourth quarter to help the Celtics get the 92-88 win.

Irving’s handles set him apart from every other player in the league. They’re the best in the game at the moment and they allow him to get to his spots on the floor. When he’s able to get to the lane, he’s one of the most incredible finishers at the basket thanks to his outstanding touch. He also has an excellent stroke from beyond the arc.

From Kevin Durant to LeBron James to James Harden, there are a handful of other worthy candidates for the title of toughest player to guard in the league, but with his incredible skillset, Irving certainly deserves to be in the discussion at the very least, as Brown suggests.
