Former Boston Celtics star now-turned Cleveland Cavaliers spitfire, Isaiah Thomas, is under a lot of heat from NBA fans for stealing the spotlight from Paul Pierce. Paul Pierce’s no. 33 jersey will be retired on the Celtics’ game against the Cavs on Feb. 11.

However, it isn’t only Pierce’s night as Thomas’ video tribute will also be played on that same day. Having brought the Celtics back the NBA map with his two-plus years of All-star contribution, it makes sense for Boston to give back the favor even just with a simple tribute.

But the 10-time NBA All-Star, Paul Pierce, isn’t cool with that. In an interview on ESPN's The Jump, Paul Pierce says that he supports Isaiah Thomas' video tribute. He just doesn’t want it to happen the same day as his jersey retirement.

The Celtics legend adds that the last thing he wants to see in the JumboTron is the Cavs point guard's highlight plays. With this alone, it’s clear that he wants to have the night only for himself.

This also makes perfect sense knowing that his 15 years as a Celtic made him one of the greatest to ever play the sport. Then there’s Thomas who says that it wasn’t his intent to share the night with the future Hall of Famer.

According to a statement made by Isaiah Thomas, it’s still going to be Paul Pierce’s event because the video tribute won’t last the entire night. Thomas goes on saying that he just wanted his family to see how Boston appreciates him.

Even Celtics President Danny Ainge supports Thomas by saying that the Cavs guard's video tribute won’t interfere with Pierce's big day. Whichever the case is, the two parties seem to be both on the right. It just happened that two tributes got mashed up in a single night.
