Boston Celtics forward Robert Williams has been sent to the G-League affiliate Maine Red Claws, the team announced Thursday.

The 21-year-old rookie should be in line for more work with the Red Claws than what he's been given thus far in Boston. He's played just 13 minutes in the last four games.

The Celtics are finally playing back to their comfortable speed. A blowout victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night increased their winning streak to five games, and improved their record to 30-18. With such a deep and emphatic roster this year, they will likely benefit more if Williams just focuses on his development for the time being.

Drafted with the No. 27 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Texas A&M product has only appeared in 22 games for the Celtics, averaging a mere 9.0 minutes per game. He has averaged 2.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks this season.

Though the numbers haven't been eye-popping, Williams is another exciting young player who will be crucial to the future of the organization.

His next action for Maine will be on Thursday night against the Grand Rapids Drive, in what could possibly be just a pit stop for the first-year forward before meeting back up with the Celtics for a highly anticipated game against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.
