It's hard to deny that the Boston Celtics would not have reached the same heights they did last season had it not been for Robert Williams. In particular, the 24-year-old's surprising return to action during the playoffs just weeks after tearing his meniscus provided a major boost for the Celtics and their NBA Finals run.

Unfortunately for Williams and the Celtics, this same injury took a toll on him throughout the postseason. The 6-foot-8 big man was in and out of the lineup during the playoffs, and his production dipped significantly. This was also because of the fact that head coach Ime Udoka limited Williams' minutes as he played through his knee injury.

The good news for Boston fans is that right now, Williams is working hard to get back to a hundred percent. At the moment, the Celtics big man is expected to be at full strength in time for the start of the new season (h/t Sean Deveney of heavy.com):

A source told Heavy Sports that Williams has been feeling good after grinding through the postseason despite having had surgery to fix a meniscus tear in late March.

… But in the time since the Finals, Williams has experienced no setbacks or further knee issues. The plan is to take six weeks of rest, and he will then report to the Sanford Power training facility in Irvine, California, to being to ramp up for the season.

Williams was integral to Boston's success last season, and he was a key cog for the team in the playoffs despite battling injury. At full strength, there's no doubt that Robert Williams is going to be a problem for the rest of the league in 2022-23.
