The Boston Celtics may get second-year big man Robert Williams back in action soon. Williams, who was drafted by Boston with the No. 27 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, has missed the team's last eight games with an injured hip.

According to A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston, Williams' hip is now pain-free and the 6-foot-8 big man will get another MRI on his hip next week. Williams added that “it sucks” not being able to do any basketball-related activities.

After not playing much in his rookie season, Williams has enjoyed an increased role on the Celtics when he was healthy. The athletic big man out of Texas A&M is averaging 3.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in just 14.2 minutes per game this season, all while shooting 67.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Expectations have been high for Williams since he entered the league. Although he is undersized, Williams possesses an incredible 7-foot-6 wingspan and a 40-inch vertical leap. Moreover, while he isn't much of a threat on the offensive end, the sophomore big man is arguably the best rim protector on Boston's roster.

Injuries aren't anything new for the Celtics this season. Willams, along with Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter, Romeo Lamgford and Marcus Smart have all missed multiple games with injuries.

However, despite the injury bug biting them, Boston has impressed so far. The Celtics have a 22-7 record on the season, good for second in the Eastern Conference and third overall in the entire league. They are only behind the league-best Milwaukee Bucks (28-5) and Western Conference powerhouse Los Angeles Lakers (24-7).

With Williams out Saturday against the Toronto Raptors and the big man set to have an MRI taken sometime next week, it's likely Celtics fans may not see Williams back on the court until a few games down the road.
