Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams is expected to be out of commission for at least three weeks after being diagnosed with a bone edema in his left hip, according to an official report from the team.

Williams recently underwent medical evaluations that confirmed his diagnosis. The Celtics will re-evaluate his status in approximately three weeks:

Williams, now 20 years of age, has made 19 appearances with the Celtics this season, racking up averages of 3.9 points on 67.3 percent shooting from the field, 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 14.2 minutes per outing.

With Williams sidelined, Boston will likely give a bit more playing time to Daniel Theis and Enes Kanter — two bigs that have played well in recent games. Theis recorded 16 points and five rebounds in Thursday night's 115-109 loss to the Sixers. Kanter added 20 points on 10-of-13 shooting with nine rebounds.

The Celtics will look to snap a two-game losing streak on Wednesday night, when they'll face off against the Dallas Mavericks. Tip-off inside the American Airlines Center is set for 9:30 p.m. ET, with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
