Center Tacko Fall of the Boston Celtics admitted that he was ‘terrible' when he first started playing basketball. From those origins, Fall has grown in multiple ways.

Per Jacob Camenker of NBC Sports, Fall recalled his high school days when he came to the United States from Senegal — the first time he grabbed a basketball. He admitted that he wasn't' very good. But at the same time, he knew that he would have to put in the work to get better:

“I was terrible,” Fall said. “I was terrible when I had first started. But obviously, when you start a new sport, there is going to be a learning curve. That doesn't mean you're bad, it just means you need to learn how to play the game. So, I went through that, but I just put my head down and knew I was on a mission over here. And thankfully, I had a lot of people helping me with my game mentally and I just never gave up. I just kept pushing.”

After four years with the University of Central Florida, Tacko Fall signed up for the NBA Draft. Though no one picked up, the Celtics offered the big man a chance. In the Summer League, he displayed how his 7-foot-6 frame is an immediate advantage. Though he was not the most skilled player out there, his height gave him easy dunks — both putbacks and born from alley-oops. Smaller players, too, were intimidated to drive whenever he's on the paint.

Right now, Tacko Fall is vying for a spot in the Celtics' 15-man roster. Some say that he has a slim chance of making it. Succeed or fail, The 23-year-old Senegalese will definitely put in the work.
