Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady recently won his seventh Super Bowl after making it to the big dance 10 times. With this last win, Brady exceeds the six championships won by basketball icon Michael Jordan. NBA legend Bill Russell had the perfect response to a post depicting Brady and Jordan's rings.

The former Boston Celtics big man noted that Brady is getting closer to his count of 11 championships. The man, who the NBA Finals MVP is named after won those rings from 1957 to 1969. Along with those accolades, Russell was a 12-time All-Star and was named league MVP five times. The Celtics have him to thank for putting up so many banners in their arena.

It must be noted that Russell played in a very different era and so there were much fewer teams competing for the championship. Nevertheless, it is impressive that he was able to lead his team to success so frequently. Russell averaged 15.1 points, 22.5 boards, and 4.3 assists per game throughout his career. During those days, blocks and steals were not yet officially recorded, but if they were Russell would have had a mind-numbing number of them for sure.

Brady is still under contract with the Bucs and will be gunning for another championship. While he most likely will not reach Bill Russell's 11 rings, Brady will continue to play at an elite level as long as he could. Who knows? Perhaps, when Brady requires he can join an NFL's front office or coaching staff and continue to win Super Bowls outside the field.
