Before the beginning of last season, the Boston Celtics signed forward Gordon Hayward to a four-year deal, hoping that he would be able to replicate his stellar play when he was with the Utah Jazz. Unfortunately, Hayward suffered a season-ending injury five minutes into his debut, and the Celtics were caught off-guard.

Hayward returned this season but has struggled to adjust to the team's system. He looks like a shell of his old self but has still shown flashes of the All-Star forward that the Celtics had hoped for.

Although he's been inconsistent, Hayward is still capable of having a great game. In the Celtics' 117-97 win against the Indiana Pacers Friday night, the 29-year-old forward had 21 points, four rebounds, and two assists. He's scored at least 20 points six times this season, and Boston is undefeated in all of those contests.

This season, Hayward is averaging only 11.4 points per game, but he has scored at least 20 points over the last two. It is unclear whether or not he's regaining his All-Star form, but a consistent production from him will greatly benefit the Celtics.

Boston is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 48-32 record. Although this is not what they have hoped for, they can still turn things around in the playoffs. Talent-wise, they can be a legitimate championship contender. The main problem that they have to resolve is their inconsistency, and they have to find a way to fix it with the postseason just a week away.
