Boston Celtics center Vincent Poirier wasn't aware of how big his team is until he played NBA 2k.

Per Chris Forsberg of NBCS Boston, Poirier admitted that he wasn't fully aware of how much of a legendary team the Celtics are.

“When I first played NBA 2K, the main game was Lakers vs. Boston. That's how I knew that it was a big, big, big team.”

Poirier played NBA 2k which featured a Celtics squad led by Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce. It was the tail end of their career. But around that time, their superstar trio changed the landscape of the whole league.

Perhaps this realization, among others, was enough for Poirier to leave the EuroLeague and fulfill his NBA dreams. Over the summer, he inked a two-year, $5.1 million deal.

While the current roster doesn't boast of Hall-of-Famers just yet, Poirier seems to be content with being part of a historic organization. He'll join the Celtics' young guns: Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, as well as veteran forward Gordon Hayward. Being new to the league, he'll likely share lots of conversations with fellow Boston newcomer and NBA veteran Enes Kanter.

Given these realities, coupled with his new-found appreciation of the Celtics' history, Poirier is bound to make waves donning that green and white jersey.
