Robert Williams has been integral to the Boston Celtics' success throughout the season. The 24-year-old was forced to sit out Boston's Game 3 loss to the Miami Heat due to a knee injury and it now sounds like he could be watching from the sidelines yet again for Wednesday's Game 5 clash.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Williams, who has officially been tagged as day-to-day, will be doing everything he can to be able to take the floor:

Boston Celtics center Robert Williams will test his left knee in warmups, but there’s optimism he’ll be available for Game 5 vs. Miami tonight, sources tell ESPN.

While there is some “optimism” about Robert Williams being able to suit up for Wednesday night, his status is clearly up in the air at this point. Earlier in the day, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka provided a similar update about Williams, as well as newly-minted Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart (h/t NBA insider Keith Smith):

Ime Udoka said both Marcus Smart and Rob Williams are feeling better and will test things pregame, but both remain questionable.

The Heat have been banged up themselves with Jimmy Butler also dealing with a lingering knee problem. Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro have both been tagged as questionable heading into Game 5.

We could be seeing a lot of makeshift lineups for both the Celtics and the Heat on Wednesday.
