It's possible that star forward Anthony Davis could play for the Boston Celtics next season, but it doesn't appear to be his favored destination at the moment.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported on Monday that Davis ‘still' doesn't view the Celtics as a long-term situation in his mind right now.

The 25-year-old Davis could already have his mind made up on inking a gargantuan deal with the Los Angeles Lakers at some point in 2020 when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

But just because Davis doesn't currently have the Boston green in his future plans, is that any reason why the Celtics couldn't make a strong push to acquire him this summer and try to retain him?

The one-year player experiment has clearly become one of the latest, and fairly successful fads with NBA franchises, considering the Toronto Raptors' bleary offseason trade with the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard prior to this season.

Similar to Davis, Leonard announced far and wide last summer that he wanted to play for a contender, preferably in Los Angeles on either the Lakers or Clippers as well, and even went as far as to threaten his inquiring teams that he would sit out the entire 2018-19 season.

Not too much time has passed, but Leonard and his Toronto franchise have dominated the Eastern Conference for most parts of this year – currently sitting at 43-16, with Leonard having one of his best individual campaigns, averaging an MVP-caliber 27.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 steals.

The Boston Celtics do have the ingredients to reel in a trade that charms the Pelicans this summer, but given Davis' hubbub before the deadline over playing in Los Angeles, it's difficult to say at this time whether or not it'd even be worth Boston's time.
