The Boston Celtics are pursuing bigs with their $4.8 million room exception such as Enes Kanter and Kevon Looney, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Both Kanter and Looney become unrestricted free agents on Sunday. Kanter played with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers this past season, while Looney was on the Golden State Warriors.

With the Knicks and Blazers, Kanter averaged 13.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 54.9 percent from the field, 29.4 percent from beyond the arc and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line. The 27-year-old was pursued by the Celtics when he got waived by the Knicks.

With the Warriors, Looney put up 6.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 61.9 percent from the free-throw line. In the 2019 playoffs, Looney averaged 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds. He earned a lot of respect throughout the league after playing in the NBA Finals on a fractured collarbone which he suffered in Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors.

The Celtics are expected to lose both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford on Sunday. Kemba Walker is widely expected to join Boston as Irving's replacement. The Warriors reportedly want to re-sign Looney as quick as possible. Kanter is also said to be drawing interest from the Chicago Bulls.
