Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving has been involved in trade rumors lately, especially when he reportedly called former teammate LeBron James to apologize for his actions that led to the break-up of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.

His growing frustration with the Celtics' up-and-down season could eventually lead to him walking away from Boston. He recently criticized his teammates, particularly the younger players, for not being able to play consistently on both ends of the floor. He went as far as saying that his teammates do not know how to play ‘championship basketball.'

However, Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach spoke to an unnamed source about Kyrie's situation with the Celtics, and that person claims that the All-Star guard has no plans to join another team next summer.

With new rumors swirling about point guard Kyrie Irving’s future in Boston, a league source with ties to the All-Star point guard said Irving has given no indication that he will back down from his October proclamation that he will re-sign with the Celtics at season’s end.

Irving is in a position to contend for a title with the Celtics this season. There's no reason for him to walk away from this team, especially since the main reason why he decided to part ways with LeBron is for him to be able to lead his own team.

Leaving the Celtics to join another team will just hurt his legacy. Right now, the best place for Irving to fulfill his goal of becoming the man is in Boston.
