Kemba Walker's tenure with the Boston Celtics officially came to an end on Friday after he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder along with a draft pick in exchange for Al Horford.

While it was pretty obvious that Boston's relationship with Kemba wasn't the healthiest, it now comes to light why he may have ultimately left town. According to The Athletic's Jared Weiss, former Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, who is now in the front office, wasn't the kindest to Walker.

According to multiple team sources, there was some dysfunction in the locker room, with the relationship between Stevens and Walker characterized as tension-filled. Sources also suggest that Stevens was also perceived to be harder on Walker than on other top players.

This came in the wake of Gordon Hayward’s departure from the Celtics, after which sources said Hayward told Stevens he needed to establish a stronger voice with players if they were going to win.

Several team sources felt Stevens was more aggressive with certain players this season, which included Walker who was criticized for his defensive mistakes. Those sources said Walker and Stevens began to butt heads, though the pair were considered to have a productive working relationship with the Celtics and had mutual respect for one another.

Interesting stuff. Walker was also pissed at the number of boos he received during his time in Boston. However, he was a loved player by all of his teammates and became very close friends with franchise star Jayson Tatum.

It's expected that Oklahoma City will work with Kemba Walker to find a logical destination for him as they head into a rebuild. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and once again find his All-Star form after struggling in a Celtics uniform.
