The Memphis Grizzlies have pulled the trigger on a draft day trade that allowed them to acquire the services of TCU senior Desmond Bane. In exchange, Memphis have sent a future draft pick to the Boston Celtics.

This report comes via NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic:

In a separate report, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe revealed that the Grizzlies will be sending over a future draft pick to the Celtics as part of the deal:

Bane is a 6-foot-6 shooting guard with a semi-polished game. Having spent four years at TCU, the 22-year-old was able to get a ton of experience under his belt prior to making the big move to the NBA. Bane is not the most athletic player out there, but his passion and energy is second to none. He is a legitimate threat from distance, and he could emerge as an effective floor-spacer for the Grizzlies. The former Horned Frog is considered by many as one of the best shooters in the entire draft.

As a senior, Bane averaged 16.6 points (on 45.2 percent shooting), 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.5 steals, while also knocking down 2.9 triples per game on a highly-efficient 44.2-percent clip.

The Grizzlies did not get to pick in the first round, and they had to go through a trade in order to join in on the fun. With Bane, the Grizzlies close out the first round with the final and 30th pick. As for Boston, the 30th pick was their third in the first round. They selected Aaron Nesmith at 14th, followed by Payton Pritchard at No. 26.
