Incoming Boston Celtics rookie Daniel Theis had a huge game in Germany’s round-of-16 matchup against France. Theis scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds as the Germans knocked out the French with an 84-81 win.

By far the most impressive of Theis’ 22 points was his nasty posterization of veteran Boris Diaw on a fast break that was also an and-one.

The 25-year-old Theis signed with the Celtics as a free agent this offseason after playing the past three years with German team Brose Bamberg. He won the German League in all three years he spent with the team.

Theis will have Al Horford and Aron Baynes ahead of him in the Celtics center depth chart this upcoming season. If he can provide the type of production and athleticism that he showed against France for the Celtics, he could see a bit more playing time than expected in his rookie year.
